Le Ragose – The Galli family sources fruit from its vineyards at its stunning-looking estate in Negrar; from the top of this site, one is afforded a jaw-dropping view of the Valpolicella landscape. There are four separate examples of Amarone produced; my favorite for years has been their Classico bottling; matured in large Slavonian oak casks, this is indeed a classic with its round tannins and very good acidity. Also notable are the “Marta Galli” Amarone, a more modern approach aged in French oak, and the riserva, which was first produced from the excellent 2006 vintage.
